TRANSFER OF REEL TO REEL FILMS TO DVD

If you're like most of us, you don't even have a movie projector anymore, or if you do have one, the bulb is burnt out or the darn thing just plain doesn't work. What I Do:

  • The film is projected from a fully overhauled projector onto a white screen attached to the wall. A video camera that is connected to a TV / Video Capture Card in the computer then passes the image from the projector into the computer where all the recording is performed. The video camera DOES NOT record the image from the projector, it is only used as a connecting device between the projector and the computer, therefore the external noise of the projector is not captured.
  • If the reel has a soundtrack, it is also recorded from the projector to the computer by a direct RCA connection (red & white audio cables) that is connected from the projector to the sound card of the computer.
  • The film is transferred directly from your reels. This minimizes the chance of damage to your film.
  • There is NO restoration done to the original film. The footage is transferred AS IS. If there are any imperfections on the original film such as blurred vision it will be transferred. I will attempt to catch and remove any part of the film that is unwanted.
  • Multiple films per DVD.
  • Creation of personalised DVD and cover art.

    • I convert the following consumer film formats:

  • Standard 8mm Reel-to-Reel - Used primarily from 1932 to mid-1960's
  • Super 8mm Sound and Silent Reel-to-Reel - Used from April 1965 to Present
  • 16mm Sound and Silent Reel-to-Reel - Introduced for home use in 1923

    • I can use a combination of Single-Layer and Dual-Layer DVD’s. Up to 2 hours of video can be transferred onto a Single Layer DVD and up to 4 hours onto a Dual-Layer DVD.

    Movies on processed 8mm or Super 8mm film are typically found on 50-foot reels, which are 3 inches (7.5cm) in diameter. Movies on processed 16mm film are typically found on 100-foot reels, which are 4 inches (10cm) in diameter. Standard 8mm or Super 8mm films that have been previously spliced and joined together are typically found on 4 inch (10cm) up to 7 inch (17.5cm) reels. 16mm films that have been previously spliced and joined together are typically found on 7 inch (17.5cm) up to 15 inch (37.5cm) reels.

    The sizes of the reels are measured from side to side across the middle of the reel.
